Anuga, the world’s biggest food trade fair, hosted a press event in Amsterdam yesterday to officially launch its 2019 edition.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of Anuga, which takes place at Koelnmesse from 5 October to 9 October.
As well as the ‘ten trade shows in one’ which Anuga is famous for, this year’s event will see an increased focus on trend analysis and innovation, with the scaling up of the Anuga Taste Innovation Show, the Anuga Trend Zone, and the introduction of the Anuga Horizon 2050 'future exhibition'.
'Inspiration And Impulses'
Launching this year’s event, Anne Schumacher, vice president food and food technology, Koelnmesse GmbH, said, “No other platform has succeeded since its foundation in providing so much space for new food trends, for inspiration and impulses as well as for specifically oriented future themes and in guaranteeing a continual exchange between the industry participants.
“This is what turns Anuga into the most important buying and network platform for all nationally and internationally significant food wholesalers and retailers as well as for bulk consumers from the out-of-home and food service sectors,” she added.
The Amsterdam event saw a presentation from Christopher Sanderson of The Future Laboratory, and a press conference including participation from Stefanie Sabet, Federation of German Food and Drink Industries (BVE) and Franz-Martin Rausch, Federal Association of the German Retail Grocery Trade (BVLH), as well as both Anne Schumacher and Christopher Sanderson.
