Swiss baking company Aryzta is said to be eyeing the closure of two small production facilities in the central German cities of Mansfeld and Artern, according to media reports.
"It cannot be ruled out that the line reduction at the company could lead to the closure of smaller production sites," a company spokesman said.
Production shift
The closure is likely to take place without the need for redundancies, according to Aryzta, because the affected employees are likely to move to a neighbouring factory in Eisleben, which already employs 1,700 people.
Moreover, the production shift is not likely to take place for another 12 to 18 months.
Some 205 employes are set to be be affected by this decision.
