Snacks firm B&G Foods is understood to be in discussions to buy the frozen and canned vegetable business Green Giant, according to media reports this week.
While the talks are ongoing, it is not known whether a deal will be finalised.
An acquisition of the General Mills vegetable business would allow B&G Foods to expand into the frozen food sector.
General Mills has already received offers from the French food firm Bonduelle, and private equity firms Cerberus Capital Management LP and Platinum Equity LLC.
Green Giant produces around 160 frozen and canned vegetable products.
