Campbell Soup is poised to name the former head of Pinnacle Foods, Mark Clouse, as its new chief executive, with a decision likely before the end of the year, according to US media reports.
The New York Post reported that the CEO announcement is likely to be made this week, with activist investor Dan Loeb of Third Point reportedly contacting the executive to 'reassure him that he would give him plenty of elbow room', the paper reported.
Experience
Clouse, who headed up Pinnacle Foods prior to its takeover by ConAgra last month, has more than 20 years' worth of experience in FMCG, having commenced his career with Heinz in Chicago in 1996.
In 2012, he joined Mondelez International (at the time of the formation of the company), taking the role of President, North America. He also held the positions of chief growth officer and chief commercial officer with the business, before joining Pinnacle as CEO in 2016.
“You look at Pinnacle and he got some growth out of the Birds Eye brand,” the source told the New York Post. “He’ll have to figure out what to do with soup."
Campbell has been without a permanent CEO since May, when Denise Morrison stood down from her position.
