Spanish plant-based ‘meat’ producer Heura Foods has signed a distribution agreement with Carrefour Italia to distribute its products to more than 300 stores nationwide.
The partnership will allow Heura to strengthen its presence in the Italian market, implementing a broader distribution network and expanding into new geographical areas.
In addition to the company’s well-known ‘chicken’ strip and burger offerings, Heura also plans to roll out its new plant-based ‘sausage’ range to Carrefour stores.
Heura Product Range
Heura’s plant-based ‘meat’ products only use ingredients from non-GMO crops that do not cause deforestation and are good for the environment, the company says on its website.
Faithful to the culinary heritage of the Mediterranean diet, Heura uses only extra-virgin olive oil as its sole source of fat.
Heura Foods, which was founded in 2017 in a co-working office in the centre of Barcelona, has a presence in 20 countries and closed 2021 with a turnover of €17.7 million – up from €8 million in 2020.
Ukraine Support Measures
Elsewhere, Carrefour Italia recently announced a humanitarian drive alongside the non-profit organisation Terre des Hommes, which sees customers able to make a direct donation to the charity to help support Ukrainian hospitals.
Terre des Hommes is aligned with the Polish Medical Mission, which, in turn, is supporting healthcare services in Kiev, Odessa, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Lutsk, as well as refugee centres in neighbouring countries particularly close to the border, in Hungary, Moldova and Romania.
