Colgate-Palmolive has appointed two longstanding senior employees as president and executive vice-president at the company.
Noel R. Wallace, most recently the COO of global innovation and growth as well as Hill's Pet Nutrition, has been promoted to president and COO of the company, responsible for all of its operating units.
P. Justin Skala, formerly its COO of North America, Europe, Africa/Eurasia and global sustainability, has been promoted to executive vice president and chief growth and strategy officer. He will lead all of Colgate's commercial growth functions, including divisions such as global marketing and customer development, as well as the company's sustainability initiatives.
"Demonstrated Global Success"
Both are long-time Colgate employees, with Wallace working at the company since 1987, and Skala since 1982. The new appointees will report to Ian Cook, the CEO and chairman of the group.
The head of the consumer goods company commented on the nominations in a statement, "Colgate is fortunate to have two executives of this calibre to assume the company's most senior operating and strategy roles.
"Their demonstrated global success and long experience make them especially qualified to drive our strategies and results throughout the Colgate world," Cook added.
Challenges Ahead
The new executives will face challenges ahead at Colgate-Palmolive, with growth slowing and sales just meeting analysts' estimates in the company's most recent financial results.
But after a difficult first quarter, the pair could find the finalised acquisition of PCA Skin and EltaMD Skin Care an opportunity to strengthen the company's global personal care business, as suggested by Cook at the time of the announcement.
