Italy’s Cremonini Group has acquired canned meats producer Manzotin from Generale Conserve, a Genoa-based food group, in a deal expected to be complete by March.
Manzotin has been in operation for over 50 years, and is the second biggest player on the Italian market in the production and distribution of canned meats such as corned beef.
It was previouly acquired by Generale Conserve, an Italian manufacturer of canned fish products and owner of As.Do.Mar, Janus and Smeralda brands, from Bolton Alimentari.
Cremonini Group, which acquired Manzotin via its Inalca unit, operates in production, distribution and catering. It is the European leader in beef production and in 2014 reported revenues of €1.49 billion.
