The Irish Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has cleared Valeo Foods' €60 million takeover of Wardell Roberts Ltd and Robert Roberts (NI) Ltd, the businesses that operate the Robert Roberts, Kelkin and Findlater wine operations, from DCC plc.
DCC, primarily an energy and technology player, issued a statement this morning saying that it has now "completed the disposal of substantially all of its food and beverage subsidiaries."
The takeover, which was announced last September, had been investigated by the Competition Commission over possible competition issues, however the Commission has now confirmed that the deal can go ahead.
"In light of the proposals submitted by Valeo, the Commission has determined that the proposed acquisition will not substantially lessen competition in any market for goods or services in the State," the Commission said in a statement.
"The Commission will publish the reasons for its determination on its website in due course after allowing the parties the opportunity to request that confidential information be removed from the published version."
The Robert Roberts operation also includes the Findlater wine business.
