Italian pasta company De Cecco has seen a 6% revenue increase in 2016, with sales growing both in Italy and abroad.
The company's production value was €447.5 million (up from €416.4 million in 2015), with a net profit of €13.1 million.
Speaking to daily Il Sole 24 Ore, company president Filippo Antonio De Cecco pointed out that overall pasta consumption is declining, however, premium pasta products are becoming more popular. Sales of kamut, spelt, and whole grain pasta are also on the increase in Italy.
In Italy, 81% of De Cecco sales are concentrated in the large distribution channel, particularly in 15 grocery retailers.
Global Exports
The De Cecco brand products are entirely made in Italy at the Abruzzo factories of Fara San Martino and Caldari di Ortona, but are exported around the world.
The company increased exports by 3.2% in value in 2016, with growth in Canada (+19%), France (+6.7%), Germany (+4%), US (+3.3%) and Japan (+2.4%).
For the first half of 2017, De Cecco is reporting an 8% growth of exports in value, with 3% domestic growth in Italy.
The company’s focus is increasingly on Asia, and it has just opened a commercial office in Singapore, targeting Thailand, Korea and Taiwan.
