Food Expo 2019 Puts Spotlight On Greek Food And Beverage Exports

Food Expo 2019 kicked off in Athens, Greece, at the weekend, with some 900 buyers and 5,500 foreign visitors in attendance, not to mention many thousands of local attendees.

Opening the event, Nikos Choudalakis, the organiser of Food Expo, hailed the event as “one of the most important exhibitions in our country, since it concerns one of the most dynamic and outward looking branches of the Greek economy, a basic pillar of development.”

Food Expo is now in its sixth year, and this year’s event is the biggest yet, with the focus on developing export links for Greek products.

Rising Exports

Greek food and agriculture minister Stavros Arachovitis paid tribute to the role of Greek food makers at the event, saying “"It is well known that we are in a period during which Greek exports have reached their highest level, even breaking records.

“This is the result of methodical and effective initiatives at inter-ministerial level and in conjunction with the business community. From now on, we must ensure the continuous upward trend of exports and preserve the reputation of Greek products.”
