French agrifood giant Laiterie de Saint-Denis-de-l'Hôtel (LSDH) has developed a new soya-infused fruit drink that will be distributed via supermarket chains throughout France, LesÉchoes.fr reports.
The new soya-enriched product, which contains orange juice, apricot juice and peach juice, joins a line of vegetable-enriched drink products, which as a sub-category already represents 10 per cent of the company’s production. Intermarché is the first supermarket chain to formally agree to rollout the newest addition, Fruits & Soja, though more retailers will follow.
LSDH makes a number of private label vegetable-enriched drinks for French and UK grocers, and so the new product, could make its way to British shores in the future.
About 12 per cent of juices sold in France during 2014 contained extracts of soya or some other vegetable, according to IRI, which amounts to approximately 40 million litres. The 2015 figure will most likely be higher than this, as the demand for such goods in France, as well as across most of Europe, is rising.
LSDH’s most recent declared turnover was in excess of €700 million.
