Dutch dairy giant FrieslandCampina has seen a 0.6% year-on-year growth in outdoor grazing in 2020.
This year, 83.6% of the FrieslandCampina dairy farmers implemented outdoor grazing for their cows.
This figure is well above the objectives set by the sector (81.2%), FrieslandCampina added.
As many as 10,439 member dairy farms of FrieslandCampina put their cows out in the meadows this year, including 125 farms that implemented outdoor grazing for the first time.
Outdoor Grazing Premium
FrieslandCampina offers dairy farmers an outdoor grazing premium of €1.50 per 100 kilograms of milk when dairy cows graze in the meadows at least 120 days per year for a minimum of six hours a day.
The milk from these farms is processed as ‘meadow milk,’ and the product features a logo for easy identification.
