The sixth annual Free From/Functional Food Expo is coming to Sweden this year, taking place at Kistamassan Exhibition Center, Stockholm, from 16 to 17 May 2018.
The free-from and functional-food market has grown exponentially over the last few years, but gluten-free – the biggest of the free-from sectors – is going from strength to strength.
The gluten-free market is expected to reach $4.7 billion by 2020, and new product development is focused on products that have a better nutritional profile and cater for a wider range of allergen requirements.
Folate, algae, beans and ancient grains are key ingredients that producers are using to boost the protein and iodine content of gluten-free foods.
Product Innovations
For coeliacs, gluten-free is a health necessity, but for others, it is a health choice.
There is global growth in health-conscious consumers choosing to buy gluten-free, particularly in Eastern Europe. This year, the Free From/Functional Food Expo will welcome 75% more exhibitors from this region.
"Since we began, we have seen huge innovations across gluten-free," said Ronald Holman, Exhibition Director.
"I am incredibly excited to meet with suppliers and taste the latest and greatest gluten-free products emerging from across the globe," Holman added.
With more than 275 international exhibitors, the Free From/Functional Food Expo is the best place to discover product innovation, trends and insights at the forefront of the flourishing free-from market.
