Bakery giant Grupo Bimbo has announced that it has reaffirmed it’s commitment to combat climate change as per the Paris Climate Agreement, following US President Donald Trump's decision last week to exit said agreement.
Mexico-based Grupo Bimbo has enacted a series of plans which aim to reduce its carbon footprint, including the reduction of its water footprint through integral waste management.
Environmental Care
In a statement on the company’s website, Daniel Servitje, President and CEO of Grupo Bimbo, said that 'environmental care is part of the company's philosophy'.
He added, “Today, more than ever, all the people in society must take on this commitment and join forces. Bimbo Group endorses its commitment in 2015 by signing the Paris Commitment to Action to Combat Climate Change and will continue to work to pass on a better planet for future generations "
Grupo Bimbo also signed the UN Declaration on Forests in 2014, a global scheme aiming to half the amount deforestation by 2020 and striving to eliminate it by 2030.
