Israeli Firm Osem Opens New Bamba Peanut Factory

Israeli snack manufacturer Osem has opened a new production facility, to expand production of its popular Bamba brand.

Nestlé, which owns the Osem brand, said that the new facility cost NIS 200 million (CHF 55 million), and will employ about 150 people.

The factory is located in the Osem industrial campus in Kiryat Gat, around 60 kilometers south of Tel Aviv.

Bamba, a peanut and corn snack brand, was introduced in 1966, and is popular in both its native Israel as well as the US and U.K.

Increased Capacity

Thanks to the new facility, Osem will initially double its production volume to about one million bags of Bamba per day, increasing that to 1.5 million bags in time.

The company recently started supplying to Walmart, and believes that the increased capacity will enable it to target other US retail chains.

Osem was established in 1942, with Nestlé taking control of he business in 2016.
