Kraft Heinz has announced that it has opened a pop-up grocery store in Washington, D.C. to help federal government workers during the government shutdown.
The pop-up store will be open between 16 - 20 January in 1287 4th Street NE, two blocks from the city's Union Market.
Kraft Now Pay Later
Through the programme - Kraft Now Pay Later - federal government employees with valid IDs will be able to take home a bag full of Kraft products for their families.
They can pay for it by making donations to a charity of their choice, or by helping someone in need, when they are in a position to do so.
Head of marketing for Kraft, Sergio Eleuterio, said, “During the government shutdown, parents should not have to worry about putting dinner on the table because they aren’t receiving a paycheck.
"This store is one way we can help those affected get the grocery staples they need. And we [Kraft] celebrate all who are doing their part to help.”
According to estimates, around 800,000 government workers are likely to be affected by the government shutdown, with many in the Washington, D.C. area as the federal government is the largest employer.
