The non-profit Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) has awarded an ‘A’ grade on its Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) to French cosmetics company L’Oréal for the fourth consecutive year.
The company received this ranking based on its efforts to cut down on carbon emissions in its supply chains, and reduce its carbon footprint. The CDP also awarded it 99/100 for the ‘transparency of its policies’.
L’Oréal has committed to reduce its CO2 emissions by 60% by the year 2020, using a 2005 baseline.
In a press release, the group said it had reduced its CO2 emissions by nearly 60% between 2005 and 2015, despite increasing its production by 26% in the same decade.
'This achievement is due to an ambitious strategy of improving energy efficiency across facilities, increasing the use of renewable energy, and developing low carbon innovations,' L’Oréal said.
In other news, the company has publicised a surge in demand for premium makeup SKUs.
