L’Oréal has been named the winner of the Institut du Capitalisme Responsible and Ethics & Boards Observatory prize for Gender Diversity, reflecting its progress in all strata of the company in the area.
The award measures a company's gender diversity in relation to the following criteria: ‘1) Board gender diversity 2) Gender diversity of the executive management committees 3) women's representation within the company.'
Globally, 70% of L’Oréal's staff are female; a third of its executive committee are female, while seven of the 15 members of its board of directors are women. Its victory came in the ‘CAC 40 Category’.
The metric used by the Institut du Capitalisme Responsible and Ethics & Boards Observatory is the ‘Zimmermann’ Index. It will in coming years serve to maintain an ‘independent and objective annual measurement of gender diversity of SBF 120 companies' boards and executives,’ analysing six business sectors.
In 2018, the assessment will extend out of France and become a pan-European benchmark.
