Exports of 'Made in Italy' agrifood products to Qatar have increased by 290.6% over the last ten years, to an overall value of €38.8 million.
The findings emerge from an analysis by Italian farmers association Coldiretti, based on Istat data.
Olive oil is the most exported product to Qatar, with an overall growth in sales of 691% over the last ten years, followed by fruit and vegetables, which recorded an increase of 540% in the same period.
Partnership With Qatar
According to Coldiretti, this positive trend has contributed to the launch of a partnership between Filiera Agricola Italiana (Italian Agricultural Supply) and Lulu Group, one of the main retailers operating in the Gulf countries, to support the spread of Made in Italy products.
Thanks to the partnership, a number of Italian agrifood articles are now sold in Qatar supermarkets under the brand 'Fai - Firmato dagli Agricoltori Italiani' (Signed by Italian Farmers).
According to Ettore Prandini, president of Coldiretti, this initiative is a positive example of the internationalisation of Italian products, supporting their entry into new foreign markets, as well as an important step towards tackling the issue of international agropiracy.
