Confectionery giant Mars has hosted an 'Inclusion & Diversity' panel discussion at its Mars Wrigley Confectionery UK headquarters in Slough.
The aim of the panel was to help he company boost its commitments to business inclusion and diversity, and the event welcomed senior Mars personnel from across the global group, ‘to talk about Mars’ commitment to promote an environment where every Associate is valued for their unique perspective, beliefs, experience and personality’.
The event was also attended by members of the Slough Youth Parliament and the Slough LGBT Youth Group.
Acceptance, Not Tolerance
“We're looking for acceptance, not tolerance. Every one of us is different and we want to celebrate those differences to have a brighter tomorrow,” commented Michelle Thomas, Mars global inclusion and diversity director.
At the event, panellists shared their personal stories about the importance of inclusion in the workplace and how businesses should reflect the diversity of their community.
Michael Lynch, Mars Wrigley Confectionery UK P&O director, added, “Our Five Principles have always guided our efforts to build a workplace where everyone feels included and has the opportunity to do what they do best every day.”
