Snack food company Mondelēz has published the results of the well-being programmes organized by the Mondelēz International Foundation, which aim to 'empower families and communities to lead healthier lives'.
The company made a $50 million commitment in 2013 to improve nutrition, access to healthy food, and physical activity in school-aged children in Brazil, China, Germany, India, Mexico, South Africa, and the UK.
Student Programmes
The results highlight the progress that has been made through these initiatives, which has engaged 400,000 students in Brazil with gardening and exercise programmes, and 80,000 students in the UK on the topic of healthy eating.
The company reports a 10% decrease in malnutrition of students in China, and a 68% increase in physical activity in children in India, as a result of the programmes implemented in schools in those countries.
Success
"We're proud to partner with organizations that share our passion to promote active, healthy lifestyles in countries with some of the highest childhood obesity rates," said Sarah Delea, president of the Mondelēz International Foundation.
"Across all of our programmes, success is built on collaboration. While each programme operates independently on the ground, the Foundation brings the teams together to share ideas and learn from each other. This has been instrumental to their progress."
