Mondelez International has announced it will enter China's growing chocolate market with more than a dozen products, including seasonal special editions - hoping to capitalise on China's growing love for chocolate.
Operating in 165 countries, Mondelez International is a leading brand in biscuits, chocolate, chewing gum, sweets and (powdered) beverages. Mondelez-owned chocolate brands include Milka, Cadbury's, Cote D'Or and Toblerone.
"We see enormous potential for the growth of the chocolate category in China, where consumption today is low — even by emerging-market standards", said Tim Cofer, Chief Growth Officer.
Stephen Maher, President of Mondelez China, added: "We've been operating in China for over 30 years so we know this market and what it takes to launch a business here. The strength of our Milka brand, combined with a recipe designed specially for Chinese consumers gives us confidence that we'll be successful with chocolate in China”.
