Barilla Group's Mulino Bianco brand has launched two new cookie variants made with legume flour.
The Cecille cookie is made with chickpea flour, cocoa and orange zest, while the Lentille cookie uses red lentil flour and chopped almonds.
The products do not contain palm oil, colourings, preservatives, hydrogenated fats or GMOs, the company said.
Inspired by the brand's mission 'Buono per Te, Buono per Il Pianeta' (Good for You, Good for the Planet), the products focus on sustainability and the well-being of the planet.
'Good Nutritional Profile'
According to Mulino Bianco VP Julia Schwoerer, the new cookies aim to provide Italians with a breakfast choice that offers a "good nutritional profile" with a "unique and surprising taste."
The Cecille and Lentille cookies are available in packets of eight single portions.
Mulino Bianco is one of the leaders in the cookie segment in Italy, with a 34% market share in both volume and value.
