Müller UK & Ireland has appointed Jon Jenkins, the former CEO of Allied Milling and Baking, as the new CEO of Müller Milk & Ingredients (MMI).
Jenkins succeeds Patrick Müller who has stepped down from his role after a two-year period which saw him lead a successful transformation of the business, the company said.
Müller and Jenkins will work together to achieve a smooth transition over the next two months, ensuring the continued progress of the business.
At the beginning of 2019, Müller Milk & Ingredients announced its Project Darwin turnaround plan, which saw the company secure profitable commercial contracts, adjust its capacity, align its milk supply to demand and reduce unnecessary costs.
Patrick Müller commented on the changes, saying, “A huge amount of work and very tough decisions have and continue to be required. But we are making very good progress and we now see a clear path towards a profitable and sustainable future.
“I have been deeply impressed and inspired by the relentless effort that our MMI and Müller colleagues have put into this turnaround and I am grateful to have worked with such a dedicated and talented team."
Milk & More
Müller will continue to lead Müller Milk & Ingredients’s home delivery business Milk & More, as its CEO, becoming co-owner of the division.
He said that one of the main challenges that Jenkins will have to address in his new role will be to "[establish] the sustainable cost structures required to be successful as a private label business in the long term".
Müller has confirmed that Jenkins has already assumed his new post and is focusing on working with MMI to secure the sustainable cost structures required to ensure the long term success of the business.
New CEO
Jenkins boasts more than 30 years' worth of experience in the food and beverage industry. He leaves ABF plc, where he worked for over 15 years, heading up Allied Milling and Baking, its largest food business, and Twinings, the branded tea business.
Commenting on his appointment, he said, “It’s clear that strong progress has been made and that Patrick leaves behind an excellent board and team. I am looking forward to helping my colleagues at MMI to write the next chapter in its journey, and with their continuing commitment I know that we can secure a profitable and successful future.”
