Nestlé has announced the launch of a new limited edition variant of its Baci Perugina chocolates range, featuring chocolate derived from Ruby cocoa beans.
The launch follows the introduction of the new KitKat Ruby earlier this year.
The Ruby cocoa beans provide an 'intense berry-fruitiness taste without the addition of any flavour or colour,' Nestlé said in a statement.
The Baci Perugina brand is almost 100 years old, combining soft gianduia and crispy hazelnut with chocolate.
Ruby chocolate was created by Swiss chocolatier Barry Callebaut, which spent over a decade developing this innovative flavour.
Nestlé was the first major chocolate manufacturer to use Ruby chocolate in the development of a product, KitKat
launch this fourth type of chocolate - after dark, milk and white - to consumers worldwide through KitKat, which debuted in Japan in January.
