Nestlé Health Science (NHSc) has agreed to acquire a majority stake in the American wellness brand, Vital Proteins.
The Chicago-based company will continue to operate as a standalone business, led by its founder and CEO Kurt Seidensticker.
'Optimise Health Through Nutrition'
Commenting on the deal, Greg Behar, CEO of NHSc, said, “Our companies share the belief that nothing is more important than health, and everything we do is focused on that belief.
“In combining our efforts to optimise health through nutrition, we can achieve even more to help our consumers live fuller, more vibrant lives."
Vital Proteins offers collagen-based supplements, beverages, and food products made of high-quality and sustainably-sourced materials.
The partnership will enable the company to be a part of the Nestlé Health Science portfolio and gain access to its resources.
'Science-Backed Products'
Seidensticker explained, "Joining NHSc allows us to take Vital Proteins to the next level by leveraging resources, scale and capabilities, and moving toward a future with an expanded offering of science-backed products."
Vital Proteins offers around 150 SKUs across 35,000 retail outlets in North America and Europe, including Whole Foods, Costco, Target, Walgreens and Kroger.
