Nestlé has announced plans to invest €37 million into its Nescafé soluble coffee factory in Girona, Spain.
The investment will go towards the renovation of a production line, which the food and beverage company says will increase production capacity by 20% and create 15 to 20 new jobs.
The work is scheduled to be completed by October 2018, and Nestlé estimates that by 2019 the centre will produce 38,000 tonnes of coffee per year, which will be exported to Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.
Developments
The Nestlé facilities in Girona have been in operation since 1968, but the company has invested more than €370 million into these factories since 2007.
This includes building the Nescafé Dolce Gusto capsule production plant which became operational in 2009.
At present, the Girona facility employs 750 people and exports 75% of its production to 70 countries worldwide.
