Nestlé Italia has signed a preliminary contract for the sale of six confectionery brands, currently produced at its Perugina unit in Perugia, to Italian candy company Fida.
Well-known Italian sweet Rosanna and five other brands (Fondenti, Glacia, Fruttallegre, Lemoncella e and Spicchi) will now be produced at Fida’s factory of Castagnole Lanze, in the province of Asti.
The acquisition will further strengthen the position of Fida, which currently has a 3.5 per cent share of the confectionery market in Italy, with 2015 sales of approximately €15 million.
The decision to sell the six brands follows the development plan presented by Nestlé in March, which aims to strengthen the establishment of Perugia San Sisto as one of the chocolate production centres of excellence within the Nestlé group.
