Nestlé has announced the launch of an improved version of its Garden Gourmet plant-based burger.
The new Garden Gourmet Sensational Burger is meatier in taste and texture and is being launched across Europe.
Head of Nestlé's food business, Wayne England, said, “The new Garden Gourmet 'Sensational' name evokes the senses that are stimulated by our burger: the visible transformation and aroma when cooking, the sound of it sizzling in the pan or on the grill, the great taste and texture."
It is the second time that Nestlé has improvised Garden Gourmet burgers since the product's launch over a year ago.
Best Nutritional Values
The Garden Gourmet Sensational Burger comes with a Nutri-Score 'A' rating, which means that it has some of the highest nutritional values among plant-based burgers in the market.
The product contains natural soy and wheat protein, rapeseed and coconut oil and owes its colour to natural plant extracts.
It is fermented using a proprietary method for plant-based ingredients to boost the 'umami' flavour of the burger.
'Competitive Plant-Based Products'
Torsten Pohl, head of the Nestlé product technology centre in Singen, Germany, said, “We are focused on delivering competitive plant-based products which are both nutritious and great-tasting.
“Our experts continuously explore new technologies and recipes, to deliver a wide range of plant-based innovations that have the right texture, the right taste, as well as a superior nutritional profile."
The food giant also plans to add the phrase ‘Sensational’ to other Garden Gourmet products including plant-based sausages and ground meats.
