Swiss coffee giant Nestlé has inaugurated a new production line in Vietnam that is set to process 2,500 tonnes of coffee each year, according to a press release by Nestlé. This is equivalent to 130 million coffee capsules.
The product will be a part of the 'Nescafé Dolce Gusto' range and the company will be using local coffee beans for production purposes. It also aims to scale up production in the coming years.
Rising Trends in Asia
Coffee is a growing trend throughout Asia and Nestlé currently leads the coffee purchasing market in Vietnam. It has been buying 20-25% of the nation’s coffee production output annually.
Ninety-percent of the products from the new facility will be exported to other Asian countries like Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Indonesia.
In May last year, Nestlé invested €37 million in a coffee production facility in Spain that will produce 38,000 tonnes of coffee per year by 2019.
