Nestlé has announced the appointment of Leanne Geale as its new executive vice-president and general counsel, effective 1 August 2019.
She will also be a member of the executive board of Nestlé S.A.
In her new role, Geale will oversee the company’s legal and compliance functions.
The company's chief legal officer, Ricardo Cortes-Monroy, and the head of governance, compliance and corporate services, David Frick, will report to Leanne Geale in her capacity as general counsel.
An Experienced Professional
Geale is an experienced professional and is presently the chief ethics and compliance officer at Royal Dutch Shell Plc.
She joined Shell in 2003 and has held various senior legal leadership roles in the organisation.
Before joining Shell, she served as a senior counsel for the Royal Bank of Canada, and counsel for Rio Algom Ltd and Alcan Aluminum Ltd.
Nestlé Group CEO, Mark Schneider, said, "Leanne has extensive legal, compliance and corporate governance experience in industry-leading global companies."
"She is perfectly qualified to lead the newly combined Legal and Compliance group and to drive a coordinated strategy and greater synergies between these two important functions," he added.
