Nestlé has announced plans to launch a plant-based version of Milo in Australia.
The new product uses soy and oats instead of milk powder along with its core ingredients - malt, barley, and cocoa.
The product has retained its 'choc-malt' taste and 'iconic crunch', the food giant said.
It has added vitamins and minerals to support effective energy release and contains less sugar than the original Milo.
The demand for plant-based dairy alternatives is on the rise as consumers are opting for food items with lower ecological footprint.
Head of Nestlé's dairy business unit, Trevor Clayton, commented, "We already have some great plant-based products and are now adding one of our biggest global brands with Milo. We’re continuing to make good on our promise to offer consumers food that is right for them and right for the planet."
