Personal care firm Ontex has announced plans to develop a new manufacturing plant in Rockingham County, North Carolina, its first production facility in the US.
The new facility is scheduled to commence production in mid 2021, it added.
“Following the previously-announced decision to invest in manufacturing in the eastern part of the country to complement shipments from abroad, we are proud to announce the forthcoming opening of Ontex’ first US production site as well as the acquisition of feminine hygiene production assets,” commented Ontex CEO Charles Bouaziz.
“With these meaningful steps we accelerate the execution of our strategic priority to increase our US presence.”
Asset Acquisition
Ontex said that it has entered into agreement with Albaad Massuot Yitzhak Ltd to acquire its feminine hygiene production assets in Rockingham County.
As part of the agreement, Albaad Massuot Yitzhak personnel will join Ontex and continue in the manufacturing of feminine hygiene pads at the facility.
Ontex said that the North Carolina location was selected due to its geography; approximately half the US population lives within a 1,000 km/650-mile radius.
