Orkla Care has signed an agreement to purchase 100% of the shares in Proteinfabrikken AS through its Swedish subsidiary, Health and Sports Nutrition Group AB.
Norway-based Orkla Care previously purchased a 16.7% minority shareholding in Proteinfabrikken in 2014.
Proteinfabrikken
Proteinfabrikken specialises in a range of sports nutrition products, as well as selling and distributing a variety of other branded sports nutrition and fitness equipment products.
Johan Görgård, CEO of Health and Sports Nutrition Group AB, said that combining its position in Sweden with Proteinfabrikken's "strong presence in Norway" gives the Orkla-owned subsidiary a solid base in Scandinavia.
Proteinfabrikken's headquarters is located in Stokke in Vestfold, Norway. The company was launched in 2001 and its founder, Bjørn Kenneth Hansen, has been the main shareholder since its formation, with Orkla Care as the second-largest shareholder since 2014.
In 2019, Proteinfabrikken had a turnover of NOK 82 million, with most of the sales going to Norway. Approximately half of the sales were made through the company’s online store.
