Italy's Orogel Reports 9% Increase In Turnover For 2016

Italian frozen vegetable manufacturer Orogel is celebrating 50 years of business by posting a turnover of €633 million for 2016, up 9% on the previous year.

The spinach, soup and frozen vegetable segment alone was worth €239 million (+10% year-on-year), with products sold both under the Orogel brand and the private label brands of the major Italian retailers.

The remainder comes from diverse activities, including sales of fresh products, plant reproduction, bio-gas production, and IT services.

Sales Growth

The first four months of 2017 have seen a 14-15% growth in sales, general manager Giancarlo Foschi told daily Il Giornale, adding that this was as a result of the cold spell that hit Italy.

He said that the company plans to invest €100 million up to 2018, starting with a €35 million refrigeration warehouse in Cesena, Romagna.
