Italian pasta firm Barilla has announced it is to open a restaurant chain in the United Arab Emirates and will expand the business into the other countries of the Middle East.
Following a previous opening in New York City, the pasta company is opening a restaurant in Dubai, through an agreement with Al-Futtaim Group.
Among Italian products, pasta, cheese and olive oil are the most imported product categories in the Emirates, seeing 30% growth in 2015.
Luca Barilla, vice-chairman of the Group, declared that the aim is to launch a restaurant chain where people can eat Mediterranean dishes at low cost.
