Italy's Pastificio Di Martino Acquires Majority of Big Pastai Italiani

Italian pasta firm Pastificio Di Martino Gaetano has acquired 67% of the share capital of Grandi Pastai Italiani, following an investment of €7 million.

As well as brands such as Pasta di Casa Mia, Bertarini and Emilia Brand, Grandi Pastai Italiani also produces pasta for private label suppliers.

With the transaction, Gargano-based Pastificio Di Martino has now become a leading pasta producer in Italy with an annual turnover of €150 million, reports the Ansa news agency.

As well as its existing pasta production sites of Gragnano, Pastorano and Salerno, the company now possesses facilities in Correggio and San Martino in Rio (in the Reggio Emilia region), dedicated to the production of traditional gnocchi, grains, stuffed dumplings and frozen gnocchi; as well as the Sesto e Uniti factory (in Cremona), where fresh stuffed pasta and stuffed frozen pasta is produced.

The 15 different lines enable the production and packaging of a range of more than 150 gnocchi product references and over 50 references of stuffed pasta, comprising a total production of over 1.8 million fresh pasta portions per day.
