PepsiCo has announced that pop band The Black Eyed Peas will perform at the UEFA Champions League final on June 3, as part of the soft drink firm's sponsorship of the event.
Commenting on the announcement, Natalia Filippociants, Senior Director, Brand Marketing, PepsiCo, said that the company is excited to tap into the passion on the pitch with a “blockbuster performance” during the opening ceremony.
Guy-Laurent Epstein, Director of Marketing of UEFA Events SA, also commented on the news. He said, “We are thrilled to be collaborating with our partner Pepsi on the Opening Ceremony of the 2017 UEFA Champions League final. Pepsi have a long experience in bringing music and sports together and, in this respect, UEFA are excited to have The Black Eyed Peas performing in Cardiff.
Performance
In a statement, the group's lead singer, Will.I.Am said, “As football fans ourselves, we know how much this game means to those watching from the stands, their homes and with friends. This performance means just as much to us. We’re planning an unforgettable show.”
In addition to preforming at the opening ceremony, the American music band will be featured in a variety of marketing campaigns leading up to the even.
The Black Eyed Peas have preformed in global sporting events before, most notably the Super Bowl Half-Time show in 2011.
