Reckitt Benckiser has been awarded a position on the supplier engagement leaderboard by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), for its efforts to reduce emissions and lower climate-related risks in its supply chain.
'Positive Change'
Global head of supply chain at CDP, Sonya Bhonsle, congratulated the company, saying, “RB is using disclosure to push positive change down the supply chain and, if suppliers continue to cascade good practices, this has the potential to play a huge role in the rapid transition to a sustainable, low-carbon economy.”
More than 5,000 companies were assessed by CDP on their supply chain engagement strategies, and the British consumer goods giant is among the 3% to be awarded a position.
Goals For The Future
Senior vice-president global corporate affairs and sustainability at Reckitt Benckiser, Miguel Veiga-Pestana, said, "We know there’s much to do across all three of CDP’s focal areas of climate, water, and deforestation both with our supply chain, and in our own operations.
"Forestry, for example, is nature's carbon-sink and deforestation accounts for up to 15% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions, so we’re committed to advancing our work on palm oil and other issues where supplier collaboration is key.”
The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is one of the leading global environmental disclosure platforms.
