Italian tuna brand Rio Mare has launched a new range of organic tuna in Italy, which is certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).
The 'Linea Bio' range consists of Yellow Pinna tuna, obtained through sustainable fishing, and extra virgin olive oil from organic farming, in which only natural substances are used, without fertilisers, herbicides or insecticides.
The MSC is one of the world’s leading certification programs for sustainable fishing. In particular, the MSC Blue Mark certifies that a product has been fished in accordance with three basic criteria: 1) fishing must leave enough fish for reproduction; 2) fishing must be carried out in such a way as to minimise its impact; 3) fishing must be responsibly managed by the companies.
Corporate Social Responsibility
With this product launch, Rio Mare increases its commitment to the Corporate Social Responsibility project 'Responsible Quality', launched in 2011, with the aim of guaranteeing the sustainability of fisheries and the protection of the marine ecosystem.
Rio Mare’s commitment is pursued through the whole chain, from the moment the fish is caught until the product reaches the tables of consumers. It also includes activities and initiatives in the area of sustainable fishing, environmental protection and promotion of the principles of proper nutrition.
