Sainsbury’s has teamed up with consumer goods giant Unilever to unveil five in-store ice cream parlours, built around the Ben & Jerry’s and Carte D’or brands.
Stores in Balham, Wandsworth and Clapham Common, all in London, have installed Ben & Jerry’s parlours, while Carte D’or concessions have been launched in Bishop Stortford and Walton-on-Thames.
At each, customers can create their own ice cream combinations, with a range of flavours, toppings and sauces available, the retailer added.
Cool Down
“When temperatures hot up, we know our customers love nothing more than to cool down with an ice cream,” commented Nicola Goodall, Sainsbury’s proposition manager.
“Our in-store Ben & Jerry’s and Carte D’or parlours offer customers the chance to quickly and conveniently pop in and pick up a scoop – or pint! – of ice cream to enjoy. Whatever the weather and whatever the occasion, Sainsbury’s customers can find everything they need in our stores.”
The new concept isn’t the only one to have arrived in Sainsbury’s stores in the past year; which has also seen the retailer introduce Sushi Gourmet counters, Patisserie Valerie cakes, a Crussh juice counter and a Zizzi pizza counter to its stores.
