The global wine firm Accolade Wines, which distributes its produce to 143 countries across the world, has appointed Paul Schaafsma, its present UK & Ireland head (and former McGuigan Wines executive), as its CEO, thedrinksbusiness.com reports.
Schaafsma’s tenure as leader of Accolade Wines’ UK & Ireland arm, a three-year term, resulted in growth of the division of 70 per cent. He succeeds John Ratcliffe, who is to become the company’s non-executive deputy chairman.
Within Britain and Ireland, Schaafsma succeeded in increasing the market share of Hardy’s, one of Accolade’s most prominent brands, by a remarkable 16 per cent.
The multinational has annual sales of around A$1 billion.
