Businesses working in the Spanish ready meal sector reached a turnover of about €400 million last year, according to a ranking of companies published in financial newspaper eleconomista.es and compiled by consultancy firm eInforma.
As reported by the paper, the top ten selling brands in the category control a total of 53 per cent of the market.
Platos Tradicionales S.A. ranks highest with sales of €54 million and 10 per cent growth, Precocinados Fuentetaja SL ranks second and reported 14 per cent growth, and Cook-Event Canarias SA follows in third and saw 6 per cent growth.
Almost all the companies have over 80 per cent of their staff working under indefinite contracts with the exception of Cook-Event Canarias SA (64 per cent) and Cabezueo Foods SL (44 per cent).
