Europe's largest sugar producer Südzucker has appointed Hans-Peter Gai to the company’s executive board.
He will succeed COO Dr Thomas Kirchberg, who will retire from the executive board of Südzucker on 31 August 2022.
Gai will assume his new role on 1 November 2022 and remain with the executive board for three years.
An Experienced Professional
Gai brings more than 20 years’ worth of experience in the field of food production, supply chain, technology and product development.
He has served in various roles in Unilever, Theo Müller and Danone.
Dr Stefan Streng, chairman of the supervisory board of Südzucker AG, said, "We are very pleased to have gained Hans-Peter Gai, a highly experienced manager in the food industry, for Südzucker.
"With this decision by the supervisory board, we believe that Südzucker's executive board is ideally positioned for the tasks ahead."
Other Changes
Until Hans-Peter Gai joins the board, the responsibilities of Kirchberg will be temporarily managed by Dr Niels Pörksen, CEO of Südzucker AG, the company noted.
Südzucker also plans to reorganise the executive board responsibilities in the near future.
The responsibilities of labour director will be transferred to Pörksen as of 1 September 2022, the sugar giant added.
The company posted a sharp surge in first-quarter operating profit and confirmed increased earnings forecasts for its new fiscal year, despite the impact of the Ukraine war.
