Sugar refiner Südzucker has announced the departure of Dr Wolfgang Heer, the chairman of its executive board.
Commenting on his departure, Südzucker praised Heer's leadership, saying that under his chairmanship, the company pursued the diversification of a number of corporate activities, 'maintaining a solid and successful market position, despite the current weak sugar markets'.
New Leadership
The company has appointed Dr Niels Pörksen as the new chairman of its executive board and CEO, as of 1 March.
Pörksen, who previously worked at firms including BASF, Nordzucker and Nufarm, will be responsible for strategy, sales, IT and public relations at the business.
He will be assisted by CFO Thomas Kölbl and COO Dr Thomas Kirchberg, the company said, to continue the 'profound transformation process already started at the beginning of 2019'.
“The supervisory board is convinced that Dr Pörksen and the experienced executive board members Dr Kirchberg, Kölbl and Marihart will form a dedicated and experienced leadership team representing continuity in the company as well as in the capital market communication taking on future challenges and leading Südzucker into a successful future," commented Dr Hans-Jörg Gebhard, chairman of the supervisory board.
