Portuguese beverage company Sumol+Compal has launched its first range of natural refrigerated juices produced with High Pressure Processing (HPP) technology.
This technology uses high pressure to eliminate undesired micro-organisms, preserve nutrients and extend the shelf life of products, without using artificial colouring and preservatives.
In addition, HPP technology uses no heat in the production process, keeping the fruit cold and ensuring that the final product offers the taste of fresh fruit.
According to the company’s marketing manager, Paula Ribeiro, the idea is to offer consumers juice SKUs that are as close as possible to freshly-squeezed versions.
Compal Fresco Range
The new Compal Fresco range uses fresh fruit from Portuguese orchards as the main raw material, with no added sugar.
It is available in five flavours including orange from the Algarve; apples from Alcobaça, Frutas do Pomar; peach from Beira and clementine from Algarve; and blueberry from Minho and raspberry from Algarve; as well as the limited edition melon from Ribatejo.
Sustainability, one of Compal's strategic principles, is also incorporated in the packaging of these new juices (250ml and 750ml), which are made of 100% recycled and recyclable PET plastic.
Unlock Brands created the visual identity of this new product, developing the design of the bottles and labels and planning the communications strategy.
The bottles were designed from scratch, revisiting the silhouette of the Compal nectar to create a more modern and distinctive look, the company added.
