The sale of sun care products in Spain, including sun protection and after care, saw growth in sales of 9.4 per cent in 2015, reaching €340 million, according to figures from the National Association of Cosmetics and Perfumes (Stanpa).
As reported by granconsumo.tv, 39 per cent of sales were made in supermarkets and hypermarkets, where consumers chose products with medium and low levels of protection.
The majority of sales, 56 per cent, were made in pharmacies, where consumers looked for products with medium to high levels of protection as well as the after-sun with hydrating and soothing effects. Some 5 per cent of purchases came from specialised beauty shops and cosmetic boutiques.
In 2015, Spanish consumers bought over 28.5 million units of sun care products, a figure that also takes into account those bought by tourists in the country.
