UK food company Tate & Lyle has announced plans to more than double the capacity of its maltodextrin product line at its facility in Boleraz, Slovakia. The project is expected to be completed by 2019.
The company's Maltosweet maltodextrin is a nutritive corn-based speciality sweetener. The ingredient, which is available in both powder and granular formats, acts as a binder, viscosity provider and fat replacer.
It is suitable for use in a number of products, including infant formula, sports drinks, dairy desserts and sauces.
Growing Demand
“This expansion will enable us to meet growing customer demand for non-GMO maltodextrins, and particularly in the infant food sector for regions such as Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Asia Pacific," said Joan Braca, president of speciality food ingredients at Tate & Lyle.
"It will also further strengthen our speciality food ingredients solutions offering worldwide.”
