Consumer goods company Unilever has launched a new initiative aimed to provide more information about the fragrances used in its products, disclosed in a new section on its website, titled ‘What’s In Our Products’.
The disclosure of allergens in fragrances is a legal requirement already, at least in Europe, but the company will now start disclosing all ingredients used in its products’ fragrances - down to the scents used to create them.
In addition, the new section of the website will provide a search tool for finding detailed information on individual products, or products which are allergen-free.
It will also provide general information on ingredients and answer frequently-asked questions.
“We are committed to ensuring that people have the information they need to choose the right product for them... We strongly believe that providing this transparency will help to build further trust in Unilever and our brands,” said Unilever’s chief research and development officer, David Blanchard.
The new initiative has been launched in the US, UK, The Netherlands and Germany so far, with more European countries set to follow.
