Unilever has announced that it has agreed to acquire the US-based vitamin, mineral and supplement company, SmartyPants Vitamins, for an undisclosed sum.
The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, Unilever added.
According to Peter Ter Kulve, president of health and wellbeing at Unilever, the acquisition complements Unilever’s portfolio of brands in the functional nutrition and supplement segment.
Premium Ingredients
SmartyPants Vitamins, founded in 2011 by entrepreneurs Courtney Nichols Gould and Gordon Gould, offers supplements made from premium ingredients for children, adults and pets.
The supplements use non‐GMO certified ingredients and a range of sustainably sourced organic nutrients, and are free from synthetic colours, artificial flavors, sweeteners and preservatives, Unilever said.
President of Unilever North America, Fabian Garcia, commented, “SmartyPants Vitamins aligns strongly with our mission to improve the health and wellbeing of consumers and empower people to take charge of their health with solutions they can understand and trust.”
